I still remember the world as it looked when I was small
a place stitched together with possibility
where every horizon waited with open arms
and every dream felt close enough to touch
Back then I didn’t measure myself
against the weight of the world
I didn’t ask whether I was worthy
or whether the road would rise
to meet my feet
I simply believed with the soft unbroken certainty
only a child can hold that I could become
whatever my heart whispered
The sky was not a ceiling
It was an invitation
The future was not a maze
It was a meadow and I ran through it
without fear of thorns
without imagining storms
without knowing how heavy the years could become
But life has a way of teaching us it can be darker
It shows us the perils we never saw coming
the bills the losses the disappointments that settle
like dust on the shelves of our spirit
It teaches us about limits about doors that stay closed
about dreams that bruise when the world refuses
to make room for them
And yet even now beneath the layers of caution
and the scars of experience there is still a child in me
who refuses to surrender
He still looks at the world with wide unguarded eyes
insisting that wonder is not naïve
that hope is not foolish that dreaming is not a luxury
but a lifeline
He reminds me that the obstacles in front of us
do not erase the horizon they only make the journey
more deliberate
He reminds me that the heart can still lift
even when the body is tired and that the soul can still reach
for something better even when the world
tries to take it
So I listen to him I let him guide me
back to the place where possibility still breathes
I let him teach me how to dream again
not blindly
not recklessly
but bravely
Because life will always place stones in our path
but the child within us still knows how to climb
Life will always test our resolve
but the child within us still knows how to believe
Still I walk forward carrying both the weight
of what I’ve learned and the memory
of who I once was
Somewhere between the two I will find a way to keep going
a way to keep reaching
a way to keep dreaming
in a world that tries to make us forget.
